Khalsa Punjabi School

Khalsa Punjabi School was established in November 1995 under the patronage of Sri Guru Nanak Satsang Sabha (SGNSS) in Blackburn. The Punjabi school was instituted with a vision to preserve and promote Punjabi among younger generations. Punjabi is not only the mother tongue of many in our community, but is also the sacred language of Gurbani. Learning Punjabi allows students to engage more deeply and meaningfully with Sikhi, understanding the true essence of Gurbani. Recognising this significance, the school was opened to provide students with the opportunity to learn Punjabi.

Today, classes are held every Sunday from 10:15am to 1:00pm in the classrooms at SGNSS Blackburn, with programs catering to a range of ages and abilities. VCE classes are held every Wednesday evening, providing an opportunity for students to take Punjabi as a VCE subject.
We have a team of passionate teaching staff, many of whom are volunteers with a strong commitment to helping educate children. Due to the ongoing support of the teaching and management team, the Khalsa Punjabi School continues to grow. In 2024, we proudly introduced our first VCE Punjabi classes, with students achieving outstanding results.
This year, we welcomed 104 students across four different levels, with regular classes beginning in the first week of February. The growing interest in learning Punjabi is a wonderful sign that our Punjabi language is growing and we remain committed to educating and inspiring future generations.
